Dear Supporters of Furman Baseball,
The following is an update on our efforts to #saveFUbaseball. As always, we appreciate your continued support of the path toward reinstatement.
1) June 18, marked the first reoccurring weekly meeting with Furman’s administration including AD and variety of support functions. The intent of these meetings is to explore potential paths toward reinstatement including a sustainable financial model AND fair resource allocation from the University.
2) We are encouraged by Furman’s willingness to apply energy and effort to help do the work necessary to find an amenable outcome.
3) The University is trending toward endowing all athletic programs…baseball is no exception and will likely need somewhere between $10M and $20M to achieve endowment of a competitive program.
4) Our goal is to build a plan that reinstates baseball within a reasonable timeframe. This plan would require multiple stages of proven financial support. While we do not have a final proposal to share at this moment, we believe a $5M fundraise is a critical starting point for our efforts. More to come on this point soon.
Save Furman Baseball continues to develop a team of specialists committed to 1) interfacing with Furman on proposal development 2) building a fundraising strategy and 3) managing outward communication to all of you and the Greenville community.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? All of you are important parts of this effort to reinstate Furman Baseball. We invite your participation and expertise in any of the above efforts. **We especially need the help of individuals with the means to consider a marquee gift to the Furman Baseball program.** We would love to speak with anyone who might be able to give at this level.
